This band, formed in 2000, has in a short time become a very popular, new, Norwegian alternative rock import article. The band is touring intensely around Europe and on midsummer this treat is of course available at the RMJ-2008 festival! Just tune in your brains on Kaizers wavelength, here we come!
That's what it says in their introoduction on the festival website. (It's not just my translation, it sounds even more stupid in Finnish..)
Wow, a week ago I wouldn't even have considered going to this festival.
Haha, they could just send that bad cover band to RMJ, since everybody will be so drunk they don´t care if it´s Kaizers, Jay-Z or some tired old Finnish band whom nobody likes but everyone can sing along to. Nobody really goes there for the music. So I'm not very excited about going.. I've heard Jay-Z fans say the same thing (he's playing there): what a shame, I really want to see him but won't go because it's this particular festival. But I'm sure Kaizers Orchestra will attract a huge crowd! (..of young girls all waiting to see The Rasmus who are playing right after them.) And yeah, they're playing on thursday. 48€ for 1 day :/ (And they're already selling 3-day tickets 2 for the price of 1 so I guess they haven't sold very many yet. We'll see if anyone at all shows up.)
Whoa. Just got back from the show. I wasn't in such a trance as last time, but I still couldn't say if the concert was good or bad or what. But I enjoyed it Apparently not many others did. And I imagine Janove speaking Norwegian to the audience didn't exactly increase their popularity.. (Though there was one guy in the crowd who was shouting "Akkurat!" all the time - probably the only thing he could say in Norwegian) He just asked if there were people who had heard of them before, and said something about the next song. I don't think anyone understood even that.
After their concert, I saw Rune and Geir in the audience, listening to the Rasmus. I just had to make fool out of myself again and go say hi and thanks for the show. Then I just stood there like a moron cause I couldn't think of anything else to say (After a long while I managed to build up the nerve to ask Geir if I could take a picture of him)
Rune was drinking a beer, which is only allowed in designated areas, so a security guy came and took it away from him (Geir had something in a glass but they didn't touch that.)
Again, most of my pictures were nothing I should really show around, but I put some of them up anyway.
Oh, they did. Some of them anyway, there were about 15 fangirls in the first row waiting for the Rasmus and another band. During Kaizers they just sat behind that fence! I wanted to kick them.
This was just the wrong place for them to play. It's not a "real" rock festival, more like a huge outdoor disco/party. All the people I talked to said they didn't care about the bands and came there just to drink. Which is fine if you like that, but it sucks for the bands. They even had one of the artists to comment on that on the news today.
Oh yeah, the festival used to be in a town called Rauma That's where the name comes from.
